The Lost Is Found
Here is my story of my sapphire ring...The ring has been missing for almost 2 years..I keep several of my rings that I wear frequently in a little dish on my dresser. In January 2014, I went to put it on and it was missing. Just this ring, the rest were resting nice on the little dish. My kids, grandkids and myself have looked and looked for this ring and it's not that it was that valuable or precious. But it was an easy ring to wear, no prongs to catch on things and just comfortable. I actually bought this ring at a pawn shop many years ago for less than $100 but I really liked it..On with the story, on Monday, Dec.7th, I couldn't go to sleep so I had a long talk with St. Anthony. I asked him again to please help me find my sapphire ring. On Wednesday, Dec. 9th, I went to a brunch to my friend, Phyllis' house and when I got ready to leave, she held out her hand and in it was the sapphire ring. She found it on Tuesday, Dec. 8th in a zip bag with several other things, just mish-mash stuff, she said. She was going to throw the whole bag to the garbage but decided maybe she should go through it and my ring was in it!!! Neither one of us can figure out how my ring ended up in her house, there is no logical explanation for it, except St. Anthony had done his magic and I accept that it is the truth..I am glad that the lost was found...and I'm a believer!! Sew until next time, have a Stitches kind of day..........

Yellow Hibiscus
Most of my flowers are winding down and it's time to cut or pull them, except, my yellow hibiscus! It has grown over 7 feet tall and a couple of days ago, I counted 26 blossoms! And there are over a 100 buds on it. I know the first hint of a frost will be it's demise but I am really enjoying it right now. My sister started it from seed and it was tiny little thing when I planted it last spring..

Bird Feed
I had planned to start dead-heading my coneflowers today since they are almost faded out and not very attractive anymore....but then I looked out and a Goldfinch was enjoying breakfast on coneflower seeds so I have decided to wait for a few more days..and then maybe I'll just cut the most faded ones. My pictures aren't the best but they were taken through the screen and the window both and it was the best I could do..Sew until next time....have a Stitches kind of day..

Four Embroidered Hearts Wallhanging
On April 13, 2015, I posted about my flying geese quilt and embroidered pillow that I made with Robyn Pandolph fabrics. I also made this little wallhanging to hang above my bed and I used co-ordinating RP fabrics to go with the quilt. The outside of the hearts are paper-pieced (not my favorite method to do) and the center is hand embroidered. The whole piece is hand quilted by me too. I am linking with Super Mom-No Cape today so hop over there and check out the rest of the entries. I think it is always fun to see what others have made with their embroidery. Sew until next time, have a Stitches kind of day......................come back soon!!

Please, Say Hello to Priscilla
I would like to introduce you to my buddy, Priscilla. She came to live with me about 30+ years ago. I worked on her all winter the year that I made her. She has been a faithful companion and has sat in the corner of my living room continually and has never complained about it. So, here is Priscilla, still young in spirit, if not in age...I am linking up with Super Mom-No Cape today again, I hope you will hop on over there and see the rest of the links too. .. The Wish Quilt
I was determined to sew something yesterday, just to have the feeling of accomplishment. I needed to re-bond with my sewing machine as it had been weeks since I had sat and sewed anything. In 2012, I think, I started the embroidery blocks on The Wish Quilt, a free pattern so generously offered by Red Brolly. She still has the pattern on her site if you want to save it. It's a very scrappy quilt and I like that look a lot. I have had the blocks all embroidered for sometime now but there are a few applique pieces still yet to do and I'll do them as I piece each block, that's my plan anyway. So I took the leap and pieced the first block, I'm not sure that I like the heart block so it may get replaced but I'll show you and see what you think about it. I haven't embroidered the antlers yet either so I guess it isn't officially "done" but I wanted to show it to you anyway. I am open to comments from you so feel free to tell me if there is something I can do to improve the look. Do you like the print fabric that I used on the left side?
If you look closely at the embroidery, you can see that I have added just a small touch of color. See the yellow stars, the green bow and the black mane on the horse. I have done this on the other blocks also, just my way...Sew until next time, have a Stitches kind of day......................................

And Four More !!
Here are 4 more of my blocks from How Does Your Garden Grow that I have embellished. I am liking the looks of them, although some of the blocks are easier to embellish than others. I hope you enjoy seeing them. I am linking up today with Super Mom-No Cape and Freemotion By the River. So click on these links to see the rest of their links.
I worked on these blocks and a few more over the weekend and now I think I have some tendonitis in my wrist so I best not embellish anymore for a few days. Darn!!! Sew until next time, I hope you have a Stitches kind of day............................

I've Been Holding Out
Last August, I subscribed to a new Block of the Month..I had a guilty conscience doing it and it took several days to talk myself into it because I have "several" BOM's stored in containers that I haven't even touched, most a few years old..but this new BOM was wool applique and I had not done any wool applique. So that was my persuasion to myself to order it. The pattern is How Does Your Garden Grow by Norma Whaley and my monthly blocks come from Primitive Gatherings Quilt Shop. I have been 95% satisfied with the fabrics they send and have only replaced a couple of them. Sometimes it's scary to do this as it can get quite expensive but I had very little wool so I thought it was the wise way to go.. I decided to do a little beading on them so here are the first 4 blocks that I have done. They have been a lot of fun to do. I have all of the blocks finished, just haven't done the embellishment on the rest yet.

Remember His & Hers?
Do you remember the His and Her's pillowcases? They were popular many, many moons ago. I embroidered this pair when I was in high school. I remember using the colors that were recommended and I thought it was very daring to use lime green with lavender/purple and blue..then aqua to outline the letters...and bold pink flowers!!! But I have always loved these colors together and now I treasure these pillowcases. And I crocheted the edging too!! A couple of years ago, I dug them out and they were so yellowed with age so I soaked them in Oxyclean several times for several days and they came out sparkling white again. This was just a little trip back in time as I made them over 60 years ago and I still love them even though there isn't a "His" anymore. :-( I wonder what my kids will do with them when I'm gone? Treasure or trash???
I linking today with Super Mom-No Cape, you should go check out what others have shared with us if you like hand embroidered pieces..Sew until next time, have a Stitches kind of day..............

Re-visiting the Bunny Tea Towels
I have been making sets of tea towels for the last couple of years and giving them as shower gifts for my grandkids when they are getting married. And then a few extras besides. My DIL wanted a set for their 20th wedding anniversary, my two college age, single, granddaughters said they would like some too. I made them each a couple for Christmas. And then my two daughters ordered a set also. This is the first set I made and now I am working on my 6th set, that's 6 X 7=42 towels that I will have embroidered..I love to embroidery!!! Thank goodness!! You can see more of these towels individually if you click here: Bunny Tea Towels . Today I am linking to Super Mom-No Cape for her Stitchery Link Party, hand embroidery only. You can click right here: Stitchery Link Party to go to her blog and check out what others have posted. It's always fun to see other nice projects..gotta keep those needles hot!! Linking with Super Mom-No Cape today
Here is a cute little pillow that I made a few years ago to go with a quilt that I made for my bedroom. It says "The flower garden is also my garden of thoughts and dreams...The thoughts grow as freely as the flowers and the dreams are as beautiful." I loved the sentiment and the flowers around the border. I used just one strand of floss to embroider them. It was a free pattern off the internet and I'm sorry that I don't remember where I got it and I haven't found the pattern since, if anyone knows, please let me know. The quilt is used on my bed spring through summer, it is really pastel and I always look forward to putting it on the bed every year. The fabric collection was called "Secret Garden" I'm pretty sure and Robyn Pandolph was the designer. Still one of my favorite collections.
The above pictures are the border which I designed with Robyn Pandolph motifs. I didn't have a pattern for the quilt, I just made Flying Geese blocks until I had enough, sewed a long piece in between, machine appliqued the border, and then more Flying Geese!! It was machine quilted by Nancy Anderson and I love what she did with the quilting. Today I'm linking to Super Mom-No Cape. She hopes to have a Linky party every Monday for something embroidered that you want to share. Click on the link above and go check it out, you will find her blog very interesting to browse around. ......Sew until next time, have a Stitches kind of day..................

I Tried A New Bread Recipe
This is a No-Knead Jalapeno Cheddar Artisan Bread recipe that I got from the Chef-in-Training site. It came out really good according to some of the grandkids..I did do a little taste test but I'm not a jalapeno fan and tried to avoid the peppers (it didn't work). I really liked the "crumb" in the bread and I may try it again without the "heat". It was fun to try something different!! Sew until next time, have a Stitches kind of day.......

A Gathering
Wednesday afternoon I hosted our Mini Quilters Group so I decorated a little early for Easter. I don't have any St. Patrick Day decor so Easter it was! I have to go on the hunt for St. Pat's Day decor, maybe I can find some on sale this year.
I served chocolate ice cream cake roll, filled with Mint Chip ice cream, drizzled with hot fudge sauce that I made too. Then I used a little green paper doily on a Miss America plate...that was my representation for St. Patrick's Day, I guess! We had a little chatter and even got some sewing done too.
