Cottonwood Quilt Show-Part 2

Gee Whiz, since I posted the first part of the Cottonwood Quilt Show, I have been to the Siouxland Sampler Quilt Show, (always a top-notch show, in my opinion) and to the AQS/Des Moines Quilt Show. I think if you look closely to my eyes, you will see 4-patches..I will try to get a few more pictures on here in a few more days for you to see. I almost think it was Quilt Overload!!! So much inspiration in less than a week, it's hard to wrap my mind around it....anyway, here's part 2 of the Cottonwood Show..enjoy!!

Cottonwood Quilt Show-Part 1

I belong to a large quilt guild also and we had a Quilt Show on September 21st. As always there were many beautiful quilts and small pieces on display. I made a slideshow for you to enjoy, this will be part 1 so stay tuned for part 2 soon. Thanks for looking..

I find those large blue "Do Not Touch" papers very distracting in the photos, do you?? Also, the descriptive ones, they are quite large. Here is a single picture of the Best of Show, hand appliqued and hand quilted with very dense stitching. If you click on it, you can see it larger...

Cottonwood Guild Slide Show- April 16, 2013

On Tuesday, the Cottonwood Guild had Diane Harris, from Quiltmaker Magazine, give the program. She had a wonderful trunk show of many of Quiltmaker's quilts made from the patterns in the magazines. When she said the magazine had been published for 35 years, I just about flipped out of my pew!! (we meet in the santuary of a church)..I have every issue of Quiltmaker as I subscribed to it when it first came out and have never let me subscription run out...geez, that's a lot of magazines!!! Anyway, I made a slide show of her trunk show, it was a very good showing. Enjoy....

Cottonwood Guild Meeting and Kathy Kansier

Back on September 20th, I went to the Cottonwood quilt guild meeting and enjoyed the program by Kathy Kansier from Ozark, Missouri. She was a very delightful person and had a wonderful sense of humor and many wonderful quilts to show us. Her program was entitled "Quilts with Great Edges". Most of them were antique quilts, mostly hand quilted and some hand pieced. Very pretty and I loved the old soft feel of them. Here are a few pictures of her quilts. I love this fan quilt and the border, it was so neat.

And yet another Fan quilt.                                                                                                                                                                             If you look closely at this pink and white border, the "scallops" are hearts.

This was a nice quilt but the prairie points were large and floppy. There are spider webs quilted between the blocks and I think the flowers are Daffodils.

This looks like a difficult border treatment to do.

This is a large Yo-Yo quilt but what was so unusual about it? It was completely appliqued onto a background fabric..It was really gorgeous!!  I have more to tell you about that trip, we found some bargain's at an "Outlet Store" or I like to call it a Flea Market.
