The Wish Quilt

I was determined to sew something yesterday, just to have the feeling of accomplishment. I needed to re-bond with my sewing machine as it had been weeks since I had sat and sewed anything. In 2012, I think, I started the embroidery blocks on The Wish Quilt, a free pattern so generously offered by Red Brolly. She still has the pattern on her site if you want to save it. It's a very scrappy quilt and I like that look a lot.  I have had the blocks all embroidered for sometime now but there are a few applique pieces still yet to do and I'll do them as I piece each block, that's my plan anyway. So I took the leap and pieced the first block, I'm not sure that I like the heart block so it may get replaced but I'll show you and see what you think about it.  I haven't embroidered the antlers yet either so I guess it isn't officially "done" but I wanted to show it to you anyway. I am open to comments from you so feel free to tell me if there is something I can do to improve the look. Do you like the print fabric that I used on the left side?

I am linking up today with Super Mom-No Cape so hop over there and check out the other links. I always enjoy looking at others projects and wish I had time to do more..

If you look closely at the embroidery, you can see that I have added just a small touch of color. See the yellow stars, the green bow and the black mane on the horse. I have done this on the other blocks also, just my way...Sew until next time, have a Stitches kind of day......................................

  1. This block is lovely, gorgeous Santa and details. You asked about the print on the left and although it is Christmasy, it´s the least that I like about the block due to the colours.

  3. Hello Sandy! This is a lovely quilt... I have the pattern too but I haven't got round to starting it!! So you are doing better than me! I love the Santa embroidery and the extra colours that you added and I like the appliqued hearts. :) x

  4. That fabric is great. I don't like hearts much, so, I'm biased against them.

  5. That's going to be a beautiful Christmas quilt! I like the hearts... maybe just a bit of spray starch to get them to lie flat.

Thanks so much for linking up to last week's Stitchery Link Party and for linking back. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the blocks.
