Remember His & Hers?

Do you remember the His and Her's pillowcases? They were popular many, many moons ago.  I embroidered this pair when I was in high school. I remember using the colors that were recommended and I thought it was very daring to use lime green with lavender/purple and blue..then aqua to outline the letters...and bold pink flowers!!!  But I have always loved these colors together and now I treasure these pillowcases.  And I crocheted the edging too!! A couple of years ago, I dug them out and they were so yellowed with age so I soaked them in Oxyclean several times for several days and they came out sparkling white again.  This was just a little trip back in time as I made them over 60 years ago and I still love them even though there isn't a "His" anymore. :-(  I wonder what my kids will do with them when I'm gone?  Treasure or trash???

Re-visiting the Bunny Tea Towels

I have been making sets of tea towels for the last couple of years and giving them as shower gifts for my grandkids when they are getting married. And then a few extras besides. My DIL wanted a set for their 20th wedding anniversary, my two college age, single, granddaughters said they would like some too. I made them each a couple for Christmas. And then my two daughters ordered a set also. This is the first set I made and now I am working on my 6th set, that's 6 X 7=42 towels that I will have embroidered..I love to embroidery!!!  Thank goodness!! You can see more of these towels individually if you click here: Bunny Tea Towels . Today I am linking to Super Mom-No Cape for her Stitchery Link Party, hand embroidery only. You can click right here: Stitchery Link Party to go to her blog and check out what others have posted. It's always fun to see other nice projects..gotta keep those needles hot!!  Sew until next time, have a Stitches kind of day...............

Linking with Super Mom-No Cape today

Here is a cute little pillow that I made a few years ago to go with a quilt that I made for my bedroom.  It says "The flower garden is also my garden of thoughts and dreams...The thoughts grow as freely as the flowers and the dreams are as beautiful."  I loved the sentiment and the flowers around the border. I used just one strand of floss to embroider them. It was a free pattern off the internet and I'm sorry that I don't remember where I got it and I haven't found the pattern since, if anyone knows, please let me know.  The quilt is used on my bed spring through summer, it is really pastel and I always look forward to putting it on the bed every year.  The fabric collection was called "Secret Garden" I'm pretty sure and Robyn Pandolph was the designer. Still one of my favorite collections.

The above pictures are the border which I designed with Robyn Pandolph motifs. I didn't have a pattern for the quilt, I just made Flying Geese blocks until I had enough, sewed a long piece in between, machine appliqued the border, and then more Flying Geese!! It was machine quilted by Nancy Anderson and I love what she did with the quilting. Today I'm linking to Super Mom-No Cape. She hopes to have a Linky party every Monday for something embroidered that you want to share. Click on the link above and go check it out, you will find her blog very interesting to browse around. ......Sew until next time, have a Stitches kind of day..................

I Tried A New Bread Recipe

This is a No-Knead Jalapeno Cheddar Artisan Bread recipe that I got from the Chef-in-Training site. It came out really good according to some of the grandkids..I did do a little taste test but I'm not a jalapeno fan and tried to avoid the peppers (it didn't work). I really liked the "crumb" in the bread and I may try it again without the "heat".  It was fun to try something different!!  Sew until next time, have a Stitches kind of day.......
