I am entering my quilted portrait of my Dad, the Sailor at .Amy's Creative Side Quilt Festival I have not entered anything in the Quilt Festival previously so thought it would be a fun thing to do. There are many categories and many beautiful quilts for our eye candy. Sure hope you will hop over and check them out. Here is Dad's portrait quilt...He was about 28 in this picture and in World War II. He lived to be 98 1/2 and lived on his own until the last few months. We lost him in January 2012 and I still miss him a lot.

Spring !
I am hoping that Spring has finally arrived and I want to enjoy it for a few weeks but today they have forcast the temp's to be in the 90"s..now how crazy can we get? I still have a few areas in the flower beds to get cleaned up but on Monday my oldest DD came down and "we" cleaned out all along the fence..Wow, what a big help that was and I am so grateful to have that done. I am in love with Spring so I wanted to show you a few pictures of my back yard. The bottle tree is new, I received it for Christmas from oldest DD & husband. I really like it!!
In the above picture you can see part of "what I call" of my herb garden but now it's mostly flowers except 1/4 of the area has some hardy herbs still growing...Isn't that grass green?

My Redbud tree fully in bloom, I love this time of year. |
The Virginia Bluebells, I really like them too but I just wish they would last a little longer than they do. They are so delicate looking and they come up every year. We moved to this house in the early 70"s and they came with the house. Soon they will die down and then the Japanese Iris will follow. . See that house in the background, we lived there until we moved to this house....it was not a long distance move!! That house has a wonderful front porch and a wrap around porch in the back. It was a very comfortable house and sometimes I wish that I still lived there..I am going to one of my Mini groups this afternoon to stitch and visit.....Sew until next time, I hope you have a Stitches kind of day.............

Another Year, Another Set of Tea Towels
I have another Grandson, #3, getting married this summer, so I made another set of tea towels for the bride-to-be. This time I embroidered Puppies and I think they came out pretty cute. I think I will just have to keep a set going all the time as other family members seem to think they need a set too! My daughter-in-law has "ordered" a set for their 20th wedding anniversary that's coming up in June!! I best get busy if I want to have them done by then..Here's the set that I made for Amber...
A family stitched together with love seldom unravels
